Now that the New Year has arrived, groups and organisations are encouraged to think of events that could be held in one of the parks and open spaces owned by Salisbury City Council. If this interests you, a total grant fund of £5,000 is available with individual grants of up to £750 on offer for organisations and groups offering community events that everyone can enjoy.
Park’s Assistant Polly Mason said, “In 2012 the fund helped support a range of events from a Diamond Jubilee Picnic at Fisherton Recreation Ground to Paint Off in the grounds of Salisbury Arts Centre, both of which were a huge success.”
Polly adds, “Events like fun days, barbeques or wildlife activities benefit our community by bringing people together for a celebration or communal activity – so that they can experience something new as well as encouraging people outdoors to enjoy our parks and open spaces. If you are unsure of which open spaces are owned by Salisbury City Council, prior to making your application, have a look at our website or give us a call.”
The deadline for applications is Wednesday 13 March 2013 so now is the time to get planning. Full details, including an Eligibility Checklist and an Application Form can be found at www.salisburycitycouncil.gov.uk
