Resource: New standards for employing dance leaders

Dance Foundation

Following consultation with the dance sector the Dance Training and Accreditation Partnership (DTAP) has produced the first set of National Occupational Standards for Dance Leadership. The development of the standards was led by the Foundation for Community Dance. The Standards aim to provide support and guidance for people who employ dancers working across a range of dance contexts. The Foundation works to support the development of high quality dance practice across a range of settings, including the provision of dance in residential care homes, specialist health-care settings, youth and community groups.

The Foundation has recently produced a leaflet that provides help and advice to people or organisations thinking about employing dancers. It sets out the range of skills and knowledge that dance leaders should aim to have if they are to be effective.
