Please join the EFDSS on Thursday 20 June 2013 to celebrate their first landmark of The Full English project – the launch of the world’s largest freely available online searchable database of English folk music, song and dance manuscripts. The database will contain over 58,400 digitised images from the 11 collections that form The Full English. The Folklore Society will be sponsoring this event.
It will be held at Cecil Sharp House from 6.30pm to 8.30pm and include a presentation of the new web portal, plus a very special preview performance of a new music commission from Fay Hield. EFDSS has commissioned Fay to create new arrangements and new music inspired and informed by The Full English collections; this project is being funded by the PRS Foundation for Music. Fay and her band The Big Hurricane Party featuring special guests will be performing these new works ahead of an autumn tour. This is an opportunity to hear a selection of songs from the archive brought back to life by an extraordinary group of musicians and singers.
