Google Impact Challenge
Internet Giant Google has announced that the UK Google Impact Challenge is open for applications. UK Google Impact Challenge provides registered charities with the opportunity to apply for a £500,000 grant to show how they will use technology to change the world. Four winners will receive £500,000 grant funding, and technical assistance from Google. The six finalists not selected as winners will receive £200,000 grant funding and technical assistance from Google. Previous recipients include:
- The Zoological Society of London (ZSL) which developed next generation camera traps, equipped with automated sensors, to better protect threatened wildlife;
- Age UK’s Down Memory Lane project which brings the benefits of technology to older people, sharing memories and exploring local history. With the help of the 2013 Google Impact Challenge, the project has grown from a month long pilot into a nine month programme operating in six locations, due to reach 3600 older people this year.
The closing date for applications is 11.59pm on the 6th June 2014. Read more at: https://globalimpactchallenge.withgoogle.com/uk2014
