Trowbridge Town Hall Trust is seeking applications for new board members to play a key role in securing the future for Trowbridge’s historic town hall as a centre for arts, culture and heritage learning.
The Trust was founded in 2012 with the twin objectives of promoting the arts and the preservation and restoration of Trowbridge Town Hall. Its aim is to take over the town hall building through the Community Asset Transfer process and create a centre for professional arts, culture and heritage learning supported by a range of complementary commercial and community activities for the benefit of the community of Trowbridge and wider area. Working in partnership with Wiltshire Council, the Trust has already taken over responsibility for operating the Town Hall and working in close conjunction with Trowbridge Arts and Trowbridge Arts Festival, the building has become a venue for performance and visual arts and is succeeding in lifting the profile of Trowbridge as a place where the arts happen.
After recently securing funding of £94,000 from the Social Investment Business, the Trust is now in a position to take a substantial step forward. Working with a team of consultants, the Trust has now embarked upon a full feasibility study to establish a sustainable business plan and capital funding strategy.
The Trust has identified the need to evolve and enhance the Board to meet the challenges of the current and next phases of the project and is inviting applications from people with skills/ experience in the following particular areas:
- Company finance/accounts
- Company Secretary
- Entrepreneurial/ Commercial development within existing venues
- Building design/construction management
- Management of mixed use and arts venues
- Media management
- Chairing a board
There will be an opportunity to visit the Town Hall for prospective board members.
