Explore your archives

You may have already discovered the archives held at the Wiltshire and Swindon History Centre Cocklebury Road, Chippenham, SN15 3 QN, but if not you might want to come along to the centre’s ‘Extraordinary Lives – Extraordinary Archives’ day on  Friday 14th November. This is part of the national ‘Explore your Archive’ campaign led by TNA and ARA

There are FREE drop-in lunchtime talks (first come, first served) in our education room–

  • 12 pm The Turbulent Life and Times of Sir William Sharington;
  • 12.30 pm A Civil War Story: the Surrender of Wardour Castle;
  • 1pm Poetry and Poverty: Alfred and Mary Williams;
  • 1.30 pm Gleanings from Wiltshire Parish Registers

There is also an exhibition of archives in the Local Studies area  from 9.30 am – 5 pm

You’ll be amazed at what you might uncover. Explore your archive.

Artists and others have found our archives inspirational including projects such as Storybox, the Semantic Archive and Now in Then creative writing.
