Oxford City Council is commissioning a large-scale, outdoor sound and light installation to be positioned in Broad Street, Oxford, for Oxford’s Christmas Light Festival which is a long running festive event, previously attracting over 60,000 people to the City of Oxford.
The main focus of the festival will be on the Friday night and will involve a lantern procession with approximately 250 children in Central Oxford. The installation will form the centrepiece to the finale of the parade and, in addition, will be a durational piece taking place at specified times throughout the weekend of the event. The piece should be a high quality installation, using light, sound, projection or a combination of various media.
We are looking for an artist or company with experience of creating large-scale outdoor pieces to apply to this brief. The artist or company will have an interest in creating light-orientated installations.
There is a fee of £3,000 for design, creation and delivery with a further budget of between £5,000 and £8,000 for the production of the piece.
Full brief and details are available online.
Applications should be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org on or before Friday 11 September 2015.
Artists will be invited for interview on Friday 18 September and artists will be informed of a decision by 25th September 2015.
