Engaging People with Visual Arts and Material Culture: A Practical Training Course for museum and gallery professionals, creative facilitators and teachers – by Hampshire Cultural Trust.
Date: Tuesday, 8 March 2016 at 9:45am
Location: Willis Museum, Lesser Market Basingstoke RG21 7QD
This event will increase your ability to engage people with the visual arts through art looking, poetry making and art making. The workshops will share skills and practice developed through the Arts Council Funded Sharing Shorelines project at St Barbe Museum between September and December 2015. Workshops will be led by the project coordinator, the projects writer in residence, Chris Bennett, and a freelance art tutor (tbc).
This day is particularly relevant to facilitators interested in improving their ability and confidence in terms of engaging people with dementia and memory loss with the visual arts; as well as engaging a general adult audience (particularly those new to visual arts), schools and families. Opportunities to transfer these skills to museum collections will also be explored.
Lunch will provided. The organiser will contact you for individual access and dietry requirements.
Deadline for booking is Friday 4th March 2016
