The dates for Salisbury Contemporary Craft and Heritage Festival are Friday 9th to Sunday 11th September 2016 inclusive.
Volunteers are crucial to the running of any festival, working as part of the team to help make it special experience for the visitors and participants. Volunteering will give you the chance to be part of a team of like-minded people, the opportunity to be involved behind the scenes, learn new skills and meet new people. We will ensure that you are fed and watered while you work with us for a full day shift and will supply you with a FREE Family Weekend Ticket for the festival in exchange for your time if you work for at least two half day shifts.
The role of all the festival volunteers is to be welcoming and helpful to people attending and assist festival staff with the supervision of venues and other festival areas with regard to safety. All volunteers must attend a briefing session in advance of the festival.
Before the festival – Festival set up and get out stewards will help set up the festival, direct stallholders and help with the get out.
All the makers will arrive on site to set up their stands in the Maker’s marquee on Thursday 8th September. We will need support to ensure that this process is as smooth as possible and they have all they need to be ready for the start of the preview evening at 6pm that evening.
Stewards will welcome people as they enter the festival site, issue pre-paid tickets, capturing data, putting on wristbands and generally give out information about the festival. Giving out information to the public, directing people, capturing data and supervising with regard to health and safety.
We will also be looking for volunteers who can capture the festival through a camera lens and will blog and support the social media on the festival in the lead up to and during the event. The volunteers would be involved with tasks such as:
- Distributing leaflets for the festival. These would be handed out around the venue in The Close and into the High Street on the days of the festival. Volunteers will work in pairs to carry out this task.
- Offering assistance to visitors within the festival site i.e. directing visitors to on site facilities, exhibition marquees and other events being held within the festival.
- Helping to man the main entrance and information tent.
- Assisting senior stewards/shift leaders with any other tasks within the volunteer’s capabilities on the days of the festival.
Some experience or an aptitude for working with the public and crafts would definitely be an advantage.
