Job: Tropicana Development Manager/Creative Producer, North Somerset Council (p/t fixed term)

We are seeking to recruit a highly motivated individual for the role of Tropicana Development Manager. The Tropicana is an iconic building on Weston super Mare seafront which was used as the location for Banksy’s Dismaland event in 2015.

The Tropicana Development Manager will be the key person responsible for developing the Tropicana into an iconic arts and event space which will contribute to the wider programme of regeneration which is currently underway in Weston super Mare.

The postholder will have considerable experience in a similar role with a proven success record in events management and facilities business planning.  Experience in fundraising would also be an advantage.

The role will be responsible for the development of:

  • The Tropicana as a major venue with an exciting programme of major events which will be achieved through working in partnership as well as programming directly.
  • A business plan that creates a financially sustainable life for the venue.
  • A community curation governance for the Tropicana as part of the business plan.
  • Fundraising to progress the programming and business development.

Based in Weston-Super-Mare, the position is fixed term for 18 months and part time at 18.5 hours per week over 2.5 days with a requirement for flexibility in relation to hours worked each week which will include occasional evening meetings and weekend events.

Salary: £29,854 per annum pro rata
