We are seeking an experienced Visitor Services Manager to lead a team of staff and volunteers at the Somerset Rural Life Museum in Glastonbury.
The Somerset Rural Life Museum is undergoing a £2.4 million re-development which is due to be completed by Spring 2017. The project will create new learning and visitor facilities and refurbish the gallery displays throughout the site.
The Visitor Services Manager will be responsible for the day to day operation of the Somerset Rural Life Museum. As the senior member of the Visitor Services team this post is responsible for the management of all Visitor Services staff and volunteers, site management and retail management. They will work with the wider South West Heritage Trust team to coordinate the museum’s exhibitions and events programme, schools provision and income generating activities.
Maximum flexibility, and the ability to work additional hours/overtime, sometimes at short notice, is essential.

The South West Heritage Trust is a charity which delivers heritage services across Somerset and Devon. With a turnover exceeding £3.25 million, we manage and run three Museums, two county wide Archives and Local Studies services and look after the Historic Environment in Somerset.
The job will be based at the Somerset Rural Life Museum, Abbey Farm, Chilkwell Street, Glastonbury.
