Exeter Corn Exchange is the City Council’s directly managed events venue in the centre of Exeter. The venue is busier than ever, staging around 400 events a year ranging from comedy to ballet and conferences to boxing.
The successful applicant will be responsible for the day-to-day management of all aspects of the venue’s operation including managing events, facility management, box office and marketing. You would work closely with your line manager to ensure that the Corn Exchange’s financial performance continues to improve.
This is very much a hands-on position: the venue has a small staffing team. The successful applicant will be able to organise their own workload and that of the other staff based at the venue. You would need to be committed to the continued success and development of the venue. The position is not suited to someone who is not prepared to immerse themselves in all aspects of the Corn Exchange’s operation and to act as an ambassador for the venue. You will need to demonstrate experience of management/supervision in a customer focused role and an understanding of the operation of an events venue.
This is an excellent opportunity for the right person to secure an interesting, involved and varied role in the arts and entertainment industry. You will also enjoy the benefits of working for Exeter City Council – an organisation that encourages personal development and strives to achieve excellence in public service.
