DCMS is seeking feedback for its review of the museum sector in England. The Museums Review will look at a number of areas, including diversifying participation, developing communities, supporting soft power and creating a resilient museums sector. The aim is to create a state of the nation report on England’s museums increasing understanding around how the sector operates, the challenges it faces and how it can best supported by government.
The review will cover both regional and national accredited museums and galleries in England according to governance model, collection and visitor numbers. It will also examine: museum operating models and changes to revenue streams, including direct and indirect funding.
The consultation period will close on 31 October 2016 and it’s likely that the final report will be published next summer.
