Bristol-based arts organisation Knowle West Media Centre is seeking to commission an artist to explore new approaches to developing citizen-led housing and how communities can live better together.
KWMC is leading a programme of work – Home Made – that will bring together a multi-disciplinary team of local people, artists, designers, architects and policy experts to collaboratively explore new approaches to housing that are, at their heart, citizen-led, working with Knowle West as a participatory test-space.
Home Made offers the opportunity for a commissioned artist or collective to immerse themselves in a live and emerging debate around citizen-led housing, contribute to a prototyping process, and create new work.
The first public phase of the project runs from January – April 2017, culminating in an exhibition and event. The period will include workshops, community engagement, hands-on making sessions and public talks.
There is a budget of £1,500 for artist fees and an additional materials budget.
