Job: Director, The Architecture Centre, Bristol

The Architecture Centre, Bristol is seeking a talented, energetic and versatile cultural leader for the post of Director.

The Architecture Centre brings people and places together. With a gallery in the heart of Bristol’s Harbourside cultural quarter, the Centre runs a lively programme of exhibitions, events, learning and outreach activities that inspire, inform and involve people with design and the built environment. The Centre is an Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation, has a partnership with University of the West of England, and works closely with a wide range of organisations both locally and nationally.

Working collaboratively with a small team and active Board of Trustees, the Director is responsible for the overall day-to-day running and strategic planning of the Centre, including financial management, fundraising and people management. The successful applicant will have a passion for architecture and design, and significant experience of managing an organisation or programmes in the arts, cultural or heritage sectors. They will have the ability to combine effective operational management with vision and leadership.

As we enter our 21st year and prepare to launch a new website and visual identity, this is an exciting time for the Centre. The new Director will consolidate recent work around vision and brand, building on two decades of success while bringing fresh ideas and perspectives. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive and experienced professional wishing to make their mark on an innovative and ambitious organisation.
