Opportunity: Hey Clay! open for applications from venues and individuals

Hey Clay! is a national celebration of clay – giving everyone the chance to unleash their inner potter. This is done by venues offering free participation events with clay over the course of the weekend of 7-9 April 2017 to coincide with the Get Creative weekend of free creative participation events across the UK.

The first Hey Clay! took place in December 2015 and saw 70 venues from Newcastle to Belfast to Cornwall, hosting free events where over 4,000 people rolled up their sleeves and got creative with clay.

We are looking for venues and invidividuals who have previously run a public-facing or educational event to run a Hey Clay! event. You could a run an event over a half day, over all 3 days, or anything in between. If you are a maker without a big enough studio or a public space who would like to run a session but has no maker or educator then get in touch and we can see what match-making we can do!

In return for a free Hey Clay! workshop we will offer:

  • A designated Hey Clay! page on the Crafts Council website, where all event listings will be collated and searchable by region.
  • We will be creating a press, marketing and social media campaign to push the word out far and wide to our current digital audiences of over 400,000.
  • Get Creative will push out Hey Clay on their social media channels and we will be feeding in any interesting press stories to the BBC – who are an official Get Creative partner.
  • And finally we are working with designers to create some eye-catching flyers and social media assets to help you do likewise.

To apply please fill out this listing form and send it to heyclay@craftscouncil.org.uk by 20 March 2017.

The earlier you get your application in, the quicker we’ll be able to put it up and the more exposure you will get!
