Opportunity: Expression of interest sought from performers for New Work Works project, Bedlam Fair, Bath Fringe Festival

Bath Fringe Festival :  BEDLAM FAIR

June 3rd & 4th June  2017

New Work Works – Call for Performers Expression of Interest

Bath Fringe (and Streats Ltd.) has been running Bedlam Fair (the outdoor celebratory and street arts bit) for 25 years now. We’ve always liked to present and encourage new work and over the past few years have developed a programme to encourage and support new work / emerging artists in the sector and in Bedlam. Bath is well provided when it comes to sites for outdoor and intervention work plus our event is early in the season giving participants in the scheme a chance to find out whether the new work really works with a live  audience … while there’s still got time to fix it!

Funding is now confirmed and we’d love to hear from you if you think you satisfy some of the following criteria:

  • At an the early stage of your career;
  • Are already established but want to try out new work;
  • Are based in the SW;
  • Are from a community that is under-represented in the performing arts.

Artists are paid a daily fee; lunch is available and some expenses may be payable (travel/accom). The performance will be peer reviewed and a photographic and film record will be available. There is the chance for companies to spend time leading up to the performance weekend working with outdoor arts professionals to hone skills and polish the shows a well as get events management and business advice.

If you are interested – or if you can pass on to people who might be – please complete the questionnaire here: www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/8LZDL8S

The process for applications will be open to the end of March – but we’ll be making choices as they come in – so PLEASE fill in the form as soon as you can to be in with the best chance of taking part. This year, as part of the selection process, we’re offering the opportunity to come for a workshop/audition with respected tutor and clown Holly Stoppit before we make the final shortlist.
