Entries are now being accepted for this year’s Bridport Prize.
The Prize is open for entries from writers of all nationalities aged 16 and over.
Submissions in the following categories will be accepted:
Poems: 42 lines maximum, no minimum, the title is not included in the line count. Lines between text/stanzas are not counted.
Short stories: 5000 words maximum, no minimum, the title is not included in the word count.
Flash fiction: 250 words maximum, no minimum, the title is not included in the word count.
First Novel Award: Entry format will be the first chapters of the novel, a minimum of 5,000 words and a maximum of 8,000 words in total, plus a synopsis of 300 words
The poem and short story categories each have a first prize of £5,000, second prize £1,000 and third prize £500. An additional ten highly commended prizes (for each category) of £100 each are awarded. All 13 winning entries in both categories are published in the anthology each year.
Flash fiction has a first prize of £1000, second prize of £500 and third prize of £250 and three highly commended prizes of £100. The six winning entries are published in the anthology each year.
The First Novel Award has a first prize of £1000, mentoring from TLC and possible publication of your novel , plus a runner’s-up prize of £500 and 3 prizes of £100 for shortlisted writers.
