Resource: Funding awarded for a long term study on how cultural pursuits affect health and wellbeing

A joint venture between the Royal College of Music and Imperial College London has been awarded £1 million by the Arts & Humanities Research Council for a new research project which will explore the impact of the arts and culture on health and wellbeing, from individual, social, and economic perspectives.

The project will gather data from people over a three year period, whereas most previous studies have tended to cover shorter timescales. It will look not only at the effects of culture on health and happiness, but at why those effects happen.
