Job: Dance Director, Take Art, Somerset

We are recruiting a Dance Director to lead and deliver our dance specialism across Somerset.
This is a significant appointment for Take Art and we are looking for an energised individual with drive, enthusiasm and a clear idea about how they would like to develop dance in Somerset – in both the professional and participatory spheres. As well as having passion for dance, we are looking for an individual who has experience of realising their ambitions through a successful fundraising programme.

The postholder will work within an experienced and successful team, will have the autonomy to develop their dance specialism whilst being able to draw upon the support and synergy of a senior staff team. Several projects involve the various Directors working together.

Take Art enjoys a number of fruitful relationships both within Somerset as well as the region, nationally and internationally. There is amply opportunity for the incoming Director to shape the development of dance in the future at the most local and global levels. We think this is an exciting opportunity.

Principal responsibilities also include developing and managing relationships with dance companies and venues, as well as non-arts fields such as education; and fundraising for projects in both the professional and participatory fields.

Previous project management experience and proven fundraising skills are essential as are a passion and vision for dance in Somerset.

This is a permanent post, subject to core funding. The job is a 4-day a week position (29.6 hours), including some evening and weekend work. Salary up to £30,900 pro rata (£24,720) based on experience.
