Salisbury Playhouse is calling for submission to take part in Theatre Fest West 2018 – its annual celebration of work made in the south west.
2017’s Theatre Fest West saw performances from fantastic companies from all corners of the South West, including Stuff and Nonsense (Dorset), Pipeline Theatre (Cornwall), In Bed with My Brother (Exeter), Rachael Clerke and the Great White Males (Bristol) and John Udry punching gravity in the face (Bristol). There were workshops, R&Ds, work-in-progress sharings across Salisbury Playhouse, Salisbury Arts Centre, Trowbridge Arts and The Pound, Corsham. We kicked off the festival with South West Theatre Symposium, where artists and industry professionals from across the region came together to have meaningful conversations about diversity and equality in the industry and to celebrate what people are already doing in the South West to drive change in the sector. To catch up on those conversations click here.
Salisbury Playhouse is delighted to be working with The Pound, Corsham, Salisbury Arts Centre and Town Hall Arts Trowbridge for Theatre Fest West 2018, to continue to provide companies with the opportunity to tour their work across the region.
Call out for submissions:
There are loads of opportunities for South West artists to take part in Theatre Fest West, whether you are a theatre maker with a small-scale show, are making work in non-theatre spaces, or are looking for a space to develop a new idea. We’ve tried to make it as simple as possible – either just emailing us a tour pack or sending a very brief proposal. If you have any questions about this process or would prefer an alternative way of letting us know about your work – e.g. a short selfie video, then please do email us at firstname.lastname@example.org
Small scale touring work:
Salisbury Playhouse is now on the lookout for small-scale professional productions that are available from 9-24 February 2018 to be part of next year’s festival, and would love to hear from theatre makers and inter-disciplinary artists who are based in the South West. Each year the festival hosts a range of work from emerging and established theatre makers, new writing companies, inter-disciplinary artists, dance companies and artists who make work for children and families. For last year’s programme click here.
