Katie Moffat, head of digital at the Audience Agency, has circulated another newsletter with updates on what’s happening in the world of social media as relevant to the arts, culture museums and heritage sector. In this newsletter Katie mentions the following:
“Snapchat now allows users to include links to external websites in their posts and stories.
This has been shared widely and rightly so. Carnegie Museums conducted research with visitors into their mobile phone usage. Key takeaways?
- 93% of visitors had a mobile phone with them
- 98% said ‘no’ when asked if they had a museum mobile app installed on their phone (additional proof should it be needed that unless you have an incredibly compelling proposition, stand alone apps really have had their day)
- 92% had Facebook Messenger installed on their phone
If you’re a museum, theatre, art gallery (basically any organisation with a venue!) you should definitely take the time to read this summary of why and how National Museums Scotland introduced contactless donation.”
There are lots of other useful snippets in the newsletter and you can sign up to receive the Digital Update here.
