Training: Mental Health and Well-being in the Music Teaching Environment

This workshop explores inclusive practice in our music provision to students with mental health difficulties. It will give an overview of mental health challenges and the ways in which those challenges can impact upon students’ learning within a music lesson, both in a group, and in a one to one lesson.

The workshop includes:

  • an introduction to overcoming barriers to learning so that students can make progress
  • how positive musical experiences can impact upon mental health learning goals
  • how we can really achieve what music sets out to do: entertain, express and elevate!

You will also come away with skills to help evaluate your own lessons in terms of mental health so that lessons are challenging enough without adding extra burden to students’ self-esteem and ability to learn.

Tue 27 November 2018, 10:30am to 12noon, Wiltshire Music Centre, Bradford on Avon
