Opportunity: Public Art Commission for Fern Hill Gardens Residential Development, Faringdon, Oxfordshire

Bellway Homes (South West) in partnership with Studio Response have identified an opportunity for the inclusion of art in the public realm within Fern Hill Gardens residential development’s public open space. We seek either an established or early career artist or artist groups who can provide community engagement and permanent artworks in response to the residential development’s local environment and ecology.

We would like to see the creation of unique, functional and intriguing artworks that respond to the natural environment. The artworks could take the form of bird boxes and bat boxes, bug / insect hotels, butterfly houses, beetle shelters, or other interventions that contributes and responds to the site’s ecology, this could also include some form of seating which enables residents to enjoy and connect with their environment.

Commission Fee:
The budget for the community engagement, detailed designs, fabrication and installation on site of £13,500.00 (inclusive of travel)

Project Timescale:
The deadline for your expression of interest is Monday 11th March 2019 by 5pm. The successful artist(s) will be invited to interview and will be notified by Wednesday 13th March 2019.
Interviews to take place on 21st of March 2019 in Faringdon, Oxfordshire (local venue T.B.C).
