Based in Weymouth, Nothe Fort is an important part of military and Dorset history, and is also a major tourist attraction. We are looking for an experienced General Manager to be responsible for delivering a programme of visitor attractions in a safe and financially sustainable manner, and the maintenance and improvement of the museum and the general fabric of the scheduled monument.
The successful candidate will be a capable and inspirational leader, able to provide support and direction to a team of employees and volunteers in cooperation with the Board to ensure the preservation of Nothe Fort, as well as an outstanding experience for all visitors.
You will have held a senior position in a similar field, be an excellent communicator and have experience of motivating and managing a team. We are particularly keen to receive applications from individuals with experience of managing a combined team of employees and volunteers.
You will ideally hold an appropriate degree in a field such as historic monuments, conservation or museum curation. Your experience will also include leadership in the creation of business plans, and you will be able to demonstrate good standards of IT and financial literacy.
This is a full-time, permanent position with remuneration of £30,000 – £35,000 per annum plus pension. Applications for flexible working are invited, however please note that some evening and weekend work will be necessary to meet operational demands.
