Job: Assistant to the Directors, The New Art Centre

Internationally renowned Art Gallery and Sculpture Park based in Wiltshire is looking to recruit an Assistant to the Directors.

The New Art Centre is looking for a highly efficient, detail-orientated and confident individual to join our tight-knit team, providing support to the Directors as well as general gallery administrative assistance.

This is an ideal role for anyone who has exceptional organisational and communication skills. All applicants need to be IT proficient. The successful candidate will be able to prioritise tasks well, use initiative and have a can-do attitude in order to effectively support the team.

Main responsibilities:

  • Acting as gallery front of house: opening and closing of gallery spaces, greeting visitors, being available to answer questions and give short tours of the galleries; answering phones and general enquiries, receiving deliveries
  • PA to Madeleine Bessborough, dealing with correspondence and overseeing physical and digital filing for her
  • Managing Directors’ diaries, travel arrangements, accommodation and itineraries
  • Managing communication between Directors and Auction Houses and keeping informed about upcoming auctions as well as auction results
  • Art Fair administration as directed by Gallery Manager
  • Managing library and stocklists of publications for sale
  • Management of office stock and ordering items in as required
  • Photographing the gallery, park and events. An ability to use photoshop would be a bonus
  • Overseeing small gallery sales using a card machine / cash and completing invoicing paperwork appropriately
  • Updating of database as required, for both artworks and clients with the greatest accuracy (adhering to GDPR regulations) in conjunction with Directors, including updating the gallery mailing list
  • Working with our Event’s Manager in organising and ensuring the smooth running of gallery functions such as private views, dinners and special tours. Tasks include managing invitations, travel arrangements, staffing, catering, guest lists and administration of RSVPs
  • Other gallery tasks as required by the Directors

Lunch is provided. The role is full time with occasional extra hours at evenings and weekends. The candidate would need to live within commutable distance and hold a clean UK driving licence.

£18,000 – £25,000 depending on experience
